What to Know in Document Management
Document management systems are applications and systems specially developed for the organization and management of information, documents or documents in digital environments. At the same time, scanning and indexing physical documents that are frequently accessed into the DMS also provides quick access to these documents. DMS, i.e. document management systems, document archive management systems, electronic document management systems, etc., are generally intertwined and interdependent applications. These systems store documents in hardcopy, i.e. paper form, for their retention periods, and document management systems are applications used by institution personnel or authorized users from the intranet or internet. In recent years, these applications, which are also on the agenda of medium or large-sized firms, have been developed to keep certain needs and the high costs arising from these needs at a minimum level.
What is the History of Document Management Systems?
Initially, archive management systems were present, and the first archive management systems in Roman, Babylonian, and Ancient Egyptian archives included the first examples and classification systems of AYS, which formed the basis of cataloging systems. With the continuous development of computer systems and technology, and the inclusion of electronic documents into these systems over time for storing writings and document management systems in a computer environment, the transition from AYS processes to DMS processes occurred. With the development of scanner technology, digitalization was also added to these systems.
